Stephen Placido

Stephen Placido, ASTC (he/him/his) has more than forty years’ experience working in the theatre design and technology industry. During that time he has consulted on more than 125 performing arts projects throughout the U. S. and abroad. 

His years of experience working as a scenic and lighting designer, technical director, audio engineer and production manager allows him to bring this working knowledge of theatre design and production to every consulting project.  While a member of the United Scenic Artists, Local #829, he designed the scenery for over eighty theatrical productions in South Florida. 

After being at the helm of the theatre design and production company Placido-Mara, for many years, he co-founded TSG Design Solutions, Inc., in 1995, where he remains Vice President.  As a consultant, he pursues excellence in his comprehensive acoustics and performance systems design.  His knowledge of audio/video systems, stage lighting and rigging systems has allowed him to work with architects, owners, staff and project managers to develop programming narratives, theatre design, stage lighting and rigging systems, acoustics criteria, standardized specifications and construction documents.

His design expertise covers a wide variety of performance spaces including theatres, performing arts centers, educational facilities, concert halls, amphitheaters, and places of worship.  He is and has been involved with new construction, renovation, and historic restoration projects.

His recent projects include The Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, The Maltz Jupiter Theatre in Jupiter, FL, The Tribby Arts Center at Shell Point in Ft. Myers, FL, The Benjamin School Performing Arts Center in North Palm Beach, FL and the International School of Panama Fine Arts Center in Panama City, Panama.

He is professionally affiliated with The American Society of Theatre Consultants (ASTC) where he is Chairman of the Membership Committee and is a Publications Committee Member.
