Peter Scheu | ||
Peter Scheu, ASTC (he/him/his) has over 40 years of varied experience in the technical theatre industry. Since opening Scheu Consulting Services in 2001, he has consulted on over 200 secondary school, university, and professional venues. Peter is a member of the American Society of Theatre Consultants (ASTC) and sits on its Board of Directors. He is a member of USITT, and serves on several committees within ESTA’s Technical Standards Program, working to develop ANSI standards for theatrical production equipment and systems. A Theatre Rigging Subject Matter Expert for the Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP), he is a Certified Theatre Rigger. Prior to 2001, he served for 12 years as a Project Manager and Systems and Equipment Designer at JR Clancy, working on hundreds of venues large and small. During that time, he was involved in the design and installation of Concert Shells, Orchestra Lifts, Adjustable Acoustics, and Stage Lighting Systems. Prior to 1989, he was the Special Events Manager at Syracuse University and the Production Manager at two IATSE Scene Shops in Syracuse, NY. He served as a Technical Director and Production Stage Manager for the Indianapolis Opera, Opera Memphis, and the Syracuse Opera, providing lighting designs for many regional opera productions and supervising the construction, rental, and touring of opera scenery. After graduating SUNY Oswego with a degree in theatre production and design, Peter began his professional career working various technical production positions at The Public Theatre in New York City, the Poinciana Playhouse in Palm Beach, FL, and various Off-Broadway venues. |
